Cancer has deeply impacted our communities for years, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated remains steadfast in our commitment to global cancer education and prevention. As extraordinary women, our unwavering commitment to the Power of S.H.E. ensures we serve as advocates for health justice and the well-being of our communities.
According to the World Health Organization, Lung Cancer is the most common cancer worldwide with 2.5 million new cases, followed by Female Breast Cancer (2.3 million cases), Colorectal Cancer (1.9 million cases), Prostate Cancer (1.5 million cases), and Stomach Cancer (970,000 cases).
In the U.S., Black people face the highest cancer-related death rates and the shortest survival rates among any racial or ethnic group. Specifically, Black women are 41% more likely to die from breast cancer than White women.
Sisters, now more than ever, we urge you to partner with your communities to advocate for health equity and preventive care for all types of cancer. By coming together, we can create the change we wish to see, empowering those affected by cancer and working towards a healthier, more equitable future.
Remember what we have had to overcome and the successes we have made by the power of our voice and our vote.
